Saturday I returned to Mt Diablo for their second annual hillclimb; this time racing in the Cat 3's rather the Masters 4/5. I had a pretty good day, and managed to win by, literally, the smallest possible of margins. Biggest pay day on the bike thus far, though I'll probably meet to keep the day job a little bit longer.

Kieran is now ranked 3rd in the Northern California and Nevada Cat 3 Time Trial category.

Update:

The photo is actually from the District (N Ca. plus N Nevada) Time Trial championship, where I was 3rd in the 40-44 championship. Don't ask how far I was behind the winner, national champion Michael Hutchinson. And here's a photo of me from a TT the previous week.

The ratings are kinda fun, but no one quite knows how they are calculated or takes them seriously (or actually looks at them :-) Hopefully I can move up a spot or two after the Mt Diablo Hill Climb though, my kind of TT! Kieran.

Pro-Photographer or Pro-Cyclist?

A couple of weeks ago my bike club hosted a race; as my volunteering effort I took photos, basically one of every rider. I then published these, letting people download them "for personal use". However, San Mateo County Film Comission sent me an email asking to use some photos for a project they are trying to get. So I sold a couple of photos (they weren't actually very good) for the princely sum of $50.



Then yesterday I rode in the Mt Diablo Hill Climb and won my race. My earnings here? $75. More cash than I ever made in all my years of running.
