Punch List

We got our garage floor re-concreted last Friday. We had noticed that when it got wet the water had tended to pool in the center, so we had them refinish it. Quite a pain it was to have all our remaining junk moved out of the garage (again!) to have this done. This is pretty much the last item on the "punch list", or list of fixes we wanted done, that we gave to the contractor about a month after we moved back in.

We've also finished off some of the other work that we've been doing, or having done around the house. The biggest of which is renovating the front 1/2 bathroom and retiling the old master bath.

Soon we are going to have to think about cleaning up the front and back yards.

That's Bike Racing

I was racing again this morning. It was a 50 mile race with lots of climbing. There we are, 48.5 miles done, about 20 of us left at the front about to make the turn into the finishing hill... when I see two guys to the front and left of me bump into each other, and one goes down. Ut-oh. Then a team-mate rides into him and goes down right in front of me. Double ut-oh. So I end up riding into the backside of my teammate, going over the bars, and (yay!) landing on top of the first guy. I survived with a couple of very minor scratches and no broken bones!

After standing around for a few minutes making sure that everyone was ok, I headed up the hill to the finish.

Oh well. It's kind of disappointing to ride to the last corner of the race, being right there where I needed to be and have it end like this. But its kind of nice to have at last come off the bike and not broken the collarbone!

Hope Ryan has better luck in his race, back in Ireland, tomorrow.

Sea Otter

No, not the furry animal that lives in Monterey Bay, but the cycling festival and races held at Laguna Seca raceway in Monterey.

I raced down there on Saturday, getting my best finish so far, 5th, in my race. My race report is here. The next day I was awake at 4:45am and drove down to watch Ryan in his first serious mountain bike cross-country race. He of course had to one-up me and get 4th in his race :-)












Liam now tells me that he no longer wants to be a bike racer since when he wins he would then have to get a kiss (like Ryan!) from the podium girl :-)

Will It Ever Stop?

March was one of the wettest months on record in Northern California, it rained on each of 25 days in San Francisco. Not that it rains all day, but practically every day we get some of the wet stuff. Here is what March looked like for us.

Overall I actually like it that we have some variety in our weather. It allows you to appreciate the nice days when they eventually arrive.
