Backpacking in Central America

No, not us! My youngest brother is a couple of weeks into a backpacking trip through Central America. So far he has been trhough Mexico, Cuba, Belize and Guatamala. He is of course keeping a blog.

Pro-Photographer or Pro-Cyclist?

A couple of weeks ago my bike club hosted a race; as my volunteering effort I took photos, basically one of every rider. I then published these, letting people download them "for personal use". However, San Mateo County Film Comission sent me an email asking to use some photos for a project they are trying to get. So I sold a couple of photos (they weren't actually very good) for the princely sum of $50.



Then yesterday I rode in the Mt Diablo Hill Climb and won my race. My earnings here? $75. More cash than I ever made in all my years of running.

It's 7am and it is 75F at the top of Black Mountain where Liam and I are backpacking. We hiked in at about 6pm last night and it was still really hot and sunny. If Liam ever wakes up, we'll head home to watch the WC final.

Sleeping with the fishes

Liam and I were invited to camp inside the Monterey Aquarium with Sue and Evan. The event was very well organized. It was really nice to visit the Aquarium when there isn't a crowd. We found ourselves almost alone in an exhibit quite a few times. Liam loved the Sea Otter Exhibit and kept wanting to get back there.

The highlight of course was bedtime when we slept next to the jelly fish.
