(air)Tunes

We've been trying to figure out how we are going to get music into the living room. In the olden days we had a stereo in the hallway closet and speaker cable under the floor to the corners of the room. Worked well for 12 years, but now the closet is gone and someone told the contractors to remove the speaker cable. These days all of our music is stored on the computer and played through iTunes, so the old setup doesn't really work for us anyway.

Today we bought one of Apple's Airport Express. Five minutes after opening the box it was connected into our existing wireless network, and another five minutes it was connected up to a set of speakers and playing music from the computer. All seemless and pretty cool.

We're still trying to figure out exactly what to do for speakers. Harry at work recommends powered (studio monitor) speakers like the KRK V6 run directly from the Airport Express, and then there is a remote control that will controls iTunes on the computer from the Aiport. It's a bit expensive a solution but seems like the best so far.
